Can you guess?

Went for a short walk today but it was so cold, didn't have the courage to take my camera out (and my hands out of my gloves!!). Decided to take out my macros lens and find things inside to take pics of.

Can you guess what this is?

    Love this! I'm a chemist and the packing of the rods reminds me of the self-assembly of nanostructures to achieve the lowest energy state!

    I'm thinking pencil erasers or glue sticks - Pat's spaghetti is a good one too. Neat shot what ever it is.
