High Line Park

This park is a must see in New York!! So glad they managed to keep the park!

From their website: "The High Line was originally constructed in the 1930s, to lift dangerous freight trains off Manhattan's streets. Section 1 of the High Line is open as a public park, owned by the City of New York and operated under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation. Friends of the High Line is the conservancy charged with raising private funds for the park and overseeing its maintenance and operations, pursuant to an agreement with the Parks Department."

Chelsea Market

On our third day in New York, we visited Chelsea Market. What a beautiful place! Too bad it was so early the restaurants and boutiques were closed :(

Chocolate Banana Bread

IMG_1755_edited-1

When I saw this recipe in Coup de Pouce magazine, I knew that it wouldn't be long until I baked this bread!!

I brought some at the office and it was a bit hit!
IMG_1753_edited-1

I had a piece at home with some Nutella spread on top... mmmmmmm!!!

Chocolate Banana Bread
(Coup de pouce)
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 big bananas, mashed
1/2 cup natural yogurt (I used vanilla yogurt)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 beaten egg
3/4 cup white sugar (used a little less)
1/4 cup vegetale oil (used canola)
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 oz dark chocolate, cut in small pieces

In a big bowl, mix the flour, baking powder and salt.
In another bowl, mix the bananas, yogurt and baking soda. Let sit this mix.
In a third bowl, mix the egg, sugar, oil and vanilla.
With a wooden spoon, mix the banana mix to the egg mix. Add this mix to the dry ingredients and mix until well incorporated. Add the chocolate.
Put the dough in a 9 po x 5 po bread pan that is slightly oiled.
Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let sit to cool down about 10 minutes.
